AI Redlining
AI redlining is the automated generation of tracked-change edits to a contract, proposing specific revised wording rather than merely flagging that a clause carries risk.
In plain English
Flagging tells you a liability cap is one-sided; redlining proposes the replacement text. The useful implementations produce edits in a format lawyers already work in — tracked changes in Word — so the output enters the existing negotiation workflow instead of requiring manual retyping. The reviewer accepts, rejects or amends each proposed change.
Why it matters
Most of the time cost in contract negotiation is not spotting the issue but drafting and re-drafting the fix across successive turns. Redlining compresses that, while leaving the accept/reject decision with the lawyer.
Example
A vendor MSA arrives with an uncapped indemnity. The system proposes revised wording bringing the indemnity within the general liability cap, delivered as a tracked change the reviewing lawyer can accept or modify.
How LexVio handles it
LexVio produces tracked-change redlines exportable to Word, alongside clause-level risk flags and a 0–100 Legal Health Score.
LexVio — AI Contract ReviewCommon questions
Is AI redlining safe to use on client contracts?
Treated as a first-pass draft reviewed by a qualified lawyer, yes — it accelerates the mechanical drafting step. Accepting proposed changes without review is not appropriate, because the system does not know the commercial context of the deal.
